Dandeli Tourism and Travel Guide

This town under the Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka is considered as one of the most beautiful places on Earth and the major credit goes to the dense cover of natural forests here. The name Dandeli is derived from an old legend. Once there was a man named Dandelappa who was a manor in the court of the royal Marishi. The daughter of the master fell in love with Dandelappa but to keep the respect of his master, he rejected the proposal of the lady. In a motive to take revenge for her rejection, the lady went to her brothers and accused Dandelappa of having misbehaved with her. This is how the honest man was killed and the [arts of his body were buried at two different places. To respect the man, two temples were built on these two sites and the name of the place was kept as Dandeli. The town is on the banks of the Kali River and thus there are opportunities to enjoy a lot of adventure sports such as kayaking and canoeing. Another important attraction here given the natural beauty and the richness of flora and fauna is the Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary.
