Hong Kong is known for its urban vibrancy, its shopper's paradise and Disneyland. What is equally famous here is the Victoria Peak or The Peak, as they locally call it. The Victoria Peak is the highest mountain on the island and provides a panoramic treat of the city for travelers. If you only have a day in Hong Kong, the best way to capture the entire charm of the city is to take a tram up this mountain and walk around the trail. All the parts of the island Victoria harbor, Lamma Island etc. are visible form here and needless to say, at night the lights just enhance the view further.

Massive tourism on The Peak has led to the construction of two commercial complexes, The Peak Tower and the Peak Galleria. These two structures have many eateries, flagship stores and more importantly a viewing deck where you can enjoy a bird's eye view of Hong Kong. There are various loops you can walk around here to gently take in the breath taking view of the city below.  Take the historic Peak Tram to the top, and then experience the spectacular views of Victoria Harbor. The walk along The Peak's trail ends with a hot meal overlooking the city. This journey is about visiting some of the best spots at The Peak and get the best of Hong Kong.

Tip: Bring your camera and walking shoes!

The Peak Tram, climbs 373 meters (about 1,200 feet) to the top of Hong Kong Island. Originally created for the exclusive use of the British governor and the wealthy Peak residents when it opened in 1888, today it is one of the Hong's most famous attractions. You can hop into the tram from the Central district of Hong Kong and enjoy the ride as you go through mid-levels giving you a spellbinding view of the harbor and the skyline of the city. This is a direct route to reach The Peak, while experiencing the local transportation. The ride is as fun as the destination.

As mentioned before the Victoria Peak has various trails to walk along. Mount Austin Road is a trail surrounded by lush green forests and abundant wildlife. The walk is quite scenic and at the same time easily accessible. The Mount Austin playground is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the moment. This 5 to 10-minute walk is refreshing. Chinese locals, Peak residents and tourists come here to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Lugard road is a semi-circular walking path that joins with the Harlech road to form a loop around the peak. The whole trail takes around 50-60 minutes to complete and leaves you back at the tram station. The trail provides an excellent opportunity to marvel at the scenery around. Exit the Mount Austin Playground and keep left until you meet Lugard Road. From there you will begin the loop around the Peak. At the end of Lugard Road, turn into Harlech Road, which will bring you back to your original starting point. You can observe the gently packed city beneath, as you want along the tropical greenery that surrounds the trail.

This restaurant has a beautiful open garden terrace with views of Aberdeen and the South China Sea. It is an oasis of calm amid the crowds that gather at The Peak and a popular breakfast spot. Formerly, the place of the popular old Peak Cafe, this place has maintained its vintage authenticity. The restaurant is friendly and warm and offers a memorable dining experience. The menu reflects Hong Kong's historic colonial past and Chinese roots with signature dishes such as Hainan chicken rice and British bread and butter pudding.
