Atop the Bandhavgarh hill lie the famous Bandhavgarh fort that is a site of great architectural significance. The place is about a thousand years old and the walls tell many a story about Kings and Queens of the bygone era. Only a certain amount of vehicles are allowed to make a trip to the fort on a daily basis. Thus one would have to contact their hotel as they usually do arrange tours to this place. The drive to the fort is filled with beautiful sights and sculptures like the Shesh Shaiya which happens to be a statute that is 35 feet tall. It depicts the Lord reclining on the sheesh nag and was supposedly built either in the 10th or 11th century BCE. The place was declared a National Park in the year 1968.
