Why Macau is a great hotspot for tourists

Tripoto

Macau has become one of the biggest hotspots for tourists in recent years due to a variety of different factors, although it would be impossible to deny that gambling is one of the biggest pulls for many to the region.

Known in some corners of the world as the “Monte Carlo of the Orient” and the “Las Vegas of the East”, the city and special administrative region of the People's Republic of China has continued to attract a number of gambling enthusiasts to its borders as it continues to provide them with a host of experiences that are rather unique.

Whilst we will look at gambling as an element in why Macau has become a great hotspot for tourists, it would be wrong to dismiss any of the other reasons why the former Portuguese colony is a popular destination too!

Gambling

Naturally, the gambling industry within Macau seems the most logical place to begin as many of the destination’s visitors will primarily visit the region because of the grand number of casinos that are on offer.

Indeed, the laws regarding gambling here are rather relaxed compared to many other countries in Asia and despite the fact that players are able to enjoy Casumo’s lightning roulette and other games due to the platform’s offshore status, many will want to experience the authentic and real experience that a casino can offer them.

It is understood that there are over 30 different physical establishments that people can visit whilst in Macau, with each of them providing gamblers with the opportunity to play a number of different games.

Attractions

Venturing away from the casino scene, Macau does boast an array of different things that tourists can take in and do whilst they are in the city. For instance, there are a number of different attractions that are well worth visiting.

Amongst the attractions are a host of different museums that provide tourists with the opportunity to learn more about the history and culture of the city, understand how Portugal once colonized the region and why China now presides over the location.

Furthermore, there are a host of different activities that tourists are able to enjoy whilst in Macau, including visiting The House of Dancing Water show or visiting the Macau Tower Bungy Jump which earned the Guinness World Record for the "Highest Commercial Bungy Jump in the world" at 233m (or 764 ft).

Food

For lovers of food, Macau could also be considered a brilliant destination to visit as there is an array of cuisine options on offer for people to try.

Due to the historical heritage of the city, it is hardly a surprise to learn that there is a lot of Portuguese cuisines available to enjoy, whilst those who are interested in enjoying Chinese or even Macanese cuisine will find plenty of different options to taste and enjoy when venturing around the city.

Conclusion

Although there are numerous reasons why Macau is a popular hotspot for tourists, it is clear that those outlined above perhaps play the biggest role in influencing people to come to this particular destination.
