Finally, I rested my bike on the bay of a rocky promontory. The beach, and its crescents painted on the canvas of the Arabian Sea waves. This calm retreat was a perfect end to my trip. From sunbathing at noon to Catamaran-cruising under the clear starlit sky, life didn’t seem to cease at a single wasted moment on this beach. I had thought of staying for just a night, but the tapering end of my trip got extended to a weeklong Yoga retreat, which I enjoyed as the waves hit the porch of my rented beach house. I could never get enough of my adventurous saga, yet I had to reconsider my pocket and start my journey back home. However, I realized who I actually was during my journey of finding my granddad's essence; sitting on the very same bike that he had, about 50 years back, and lying back on the sands, close to the sea, I saw his reflection within me!

The surrounding views from the lake is very pretty. Not too crowded as the other tourist spots and hence its a good place to relax and have some peaceful time.
Echo Point - It is located at a 15 mins ride from Madupatty Dam. According to the nomenclature, it is aptly named on its feature. You can hear your own voice echoed from distant mountain. This is a shallow beach just by the Bekal Fort and is the one which has been developed by the Tourism Department over here. This is now an exotic location for tourists and also the most visited place in Kasaragod. There are all sorts of facilities here including waste bins and toilets. There is a children's park for the little ones to enjoy and there are also shady areas and tree houses for you to rest. To make the beach even more beautiful two laterite statues of Theyyam have been built here by artists from Neelambur too. Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary
On day 2 we ordered appam & stew (potato gravy made in coconut milk) for breakfast. We ate and ate till the tummy said no more please. :) We clicked so many pictures and I must say the true serenity of the place couldn't be captured in any camera. When we met the owner we had to praise her for the wonderful decor and arrangements. The rooms were so neat and was even equipped with electric kettle and coffee/tea mix. In the evening we visited the bird sanctuary in an auto, but to our disappointment we couldn't see much birds and it was a long walk along muddy paths. It started raining heavily when we were midway and we had to walk back fast before it was dark. I will not advice anyone to visit this place. Rather you should sit back and relax by the lakeside with a coffee and some music. You may also avail the house boat service of the resort at an additional cost.

There is also a century old lighthouse and the coir industry flourishes here. Presently, one of the most popular places for picnic by tourists, the Alleppey Beach is just beautiful. It is a strange fact how even after so many people coming here, the beach remains so clean but it is so. The pier here is a 137 year old one and the Kettuvallam boats are worth taking a ride here. Kettuvalams are very old types of rice carrying boats and the name came down from the fact that the boats were made by only tying knots of coir here.In the backwaters areas, the Kettuvalams are the renovated ones, but in the beach part these are absolutely authentic. houseboat cruises are also popular here.

Photo Point - It'll fall on the way to top station, only a few km away from the town. There is nothing there to see except that lush green symmetric tea garden that will fall to the left of the road. We clicked some photos and move forward. I still don't know what on earth that hoarding was doing there.. !!!
Rose Garden - There is a Rose garden only 2km away from the town in the Madupatty direction. The enrty fees per person is RS 20/- and extra for still and professional cameras varries from RS 20/- to RS 50/-. They have a good collection of flowers and decorative plants. We clicked 100s of photos there. But to our utter misfortune, the memory card got corrupted all of a sudden and left us in a havoc state as there were 1500+ photos. But Thank God !! I had a back up memory card. We continued with the photography session. Later I retrieved around 1200 photos from that corrupted card. Well... something is better than nothing ! On that same route we had also covered Forest Honey Bee Hive, Shooting Point, Elephant Arrival Spot(But No Elephant was there !! :( ).
This beach is where the river meets the sea and thus is the most beautiful place to visit in Kannur. The clean sands and foamy white waters of the sea are mesmerizing and lovely to relax.
