Filled with leisurely treks, serene monastery visits and an opportunity to experience Lahaul & Spiti’s unique culture, this retreat ticks all the right boxes. The retreat is hosted by ZOMSA with an itinerary that allows you to witness the magic of this quiet and peaceful district. Away from the rush of everyday life, it gently nudges you to leave the city behind for the comfort of the mountains.

Accommodation details

  • Guests will stay at the ZOMSA Mudhouse in Keylong in deluxe rooms on a triple-sharing basis or in a three-bed dorm. Rooms are available on a first come first serve basis. Washrooms will be shared. Pets are not allowed at this retreat.

  • How to reach
    Cab: A taxi or cab to the homestay will take 15+ hours from Delhi.
    Bus: Keylong is just 1 hour 30 mins away from Manali & can be reached easily by HRTC buses/taxis
    Air: The nearest airport is Bhuntar Airport, 121 km from ZOMSA from where a taxi will take around Rs 4500 to the property.

Itinerary
  • 12pm: Arrive at ZOMSA’s 80-years-old heritage mud house. Relax and soak in the beauty of this heritage property while you enjoy the warm welcome in Lahauli style
  • 1pm: Enjoy a traditional lunch
  • 2:30pm: Tour the mudhouse and learn more about the architecture and history.
  • You will be introduced to the art of sustainable living from local experts while enjoying traditional Lahauli cuisine.
  • 4pm: An evening hike to the hidden paradise, Gungsel. Discovered by Moravian Missionaries, it is a delight for culture seekers.
  • 7pm: An evening around the bonfire at the mudhouse. Get ready to be treated with never-heard-before stories and local legends
  • 8:30pm: Enjoy a traditional dinner
  • 9am: After a traditional breakfast, head out for a beautiful morning hike to Shashur Monastery
  • 10:30am: Reach the starting point for the hike. You will be accompanied by the local guide who will charm you with local folktales from the region
  • 12 – 12:30pm: Reach the Shahsur Gompa and relive the ancient stories of the monastery. Spend a few hours with the Lama of the monastery.
  • 1:30pm: Enjoy an alfresco lunch in the midst of the gorgeous mountains
  • 3:00pm: Immerse yourself in the peace of the monastery with a short meditation
  • 4pm: Relax, sit with a book, click pictures and do as you please while you enjoy hot tea!
  • 5pm: Hike back to ZOMSA. Don’t miss capturing the beautiful sunset on your way back.
  • 7:30pm: Enjoy a wholesome dinner.
  • 8am: Enjoy a delicious breakfast.
  • 9am: After breakfast, head out to explore the breathtaking Lake Patsio or Deepak Taal. Situated at 12,300 feet, it takes your breath away with its serene beauty.
  • 4pm: Head back to Keylong in the evening to shop for some traditional artifacts. Take home beautiful traditional cups and other artifacts. A shopping spree here will not only be memorable but will help the local community.
  • 6pm: Head back to ZOMSA to enjoy the highlight of the day – a traditional & cultural evening with LIVE music and uninterrupted community interaction.
  • 9pm: Celebrate the end of the trip in Lahauli style with a lot of dancing and laughter.
  • 9am: Enjoy a complimentary breakfast as you prepare to head back.
