You may explore the dry desert in Rajasthan or you can go to hills. Both himachal and utrakhand are close enough to have a good trip.

You can go to Nainital and then to Mukteshwar or Ranikhet and on your return you can visit Jim Corbett. Jim Corbett is only 53 km from haldwani. There is a very beautiful temple Girija Devi temple near Jim Corbett.
