Hey! these days there is flood in Brahmaputra river, so most areas of kaziranga national park in Assam and the nearby states are affected. yet for a 8 day itinerary, start with Assam only. 1. Kamakhya Temple: associated with mythological story of Shiv's tandav after death of his first wife Sati, this is a place worth visiting. it opens @8:00Am in morning. if you manage to reach early by afternoon you will finish Darshan and back in case not going for other temples nearby. This is situated in Hill region of Assam capital and hence the way to temple provides a beautiful view of the city Guwahati. After Darshan and lunch, you can go to the Assam state museum, which provides you a glimpse in the rich tribal culture of Assam and a brief of it's history. you need 2hours at least for the museum. then the park just in front of Museum and the war memorial at it's end are also worth a walk. and the market in the surrounding area provides you with good restraunts to eat. For dinner check out the Alfresco cruise dinner, may be its not open because of floods. buy if its there, conclude your day with a experience of local music, dance, sunset on Brahamputr River.
