Hi, With a height of 11,929 feet above sea level, Sandakphu is the highest summit in the famous Singalila National Park. Compared to other treks in the region, Sandakphu trek difficulty, is considered easy. You can go for this trek without going through a tour operator but in that case you have to make sure you have booked the trekkers huts/ guest houses well in advance or you are carrying your camping equipments with you. You can hire a guide from the base which is Maneybhanjan. Well this was the answer of your question. However I'd suggest to choose a LOCAL, trusted operator who have good guides with them. Remember it's a high altitude trek and generally the most experienced guides are associated with local operators. It's always good to travel with experienced guides not only in terms of medical safety but it's the years of their experience in this region which you can get a glimpse while walking with them. As per ones fitness and previous high altitude trekking experience this itinerary will vary. Also there are 6 different routes to complete this trek which take 4 days to 6 days to complete this trek. I'm writing down a general itinerary which we follow for our guests.. Day 1: Darjeeling to (drive) Maneybhanjan and trek to Tumling. Day 2: Tumling to Kalapokhri. Day 3: Kalapokhri to Sandakphu. Day 4: Sandakphu to Phalut. Day 5: Phalut to Gorkhey Day 6: Gorkhey to Sirikhola/Sepi. Trek Ends. From there drive to Darjeeling. this itinerary is designed such a way so that a trekker will follow the acclimatization rules and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Singalila National Park. I hope this information will help you to plan your trip
