I would say do spend sometime in Auroville which is French side of Pondicherry. Enjoy nice cafes and good food. Also gives you a chance to visit Matrimandir & click photos. see if you can get tickets to get inside the mandir (although bookings are done well in advance) Serenity & Auroville beaches are nice as well 👍

Pondicherry is a beautiful town with lots of amazing places to visit. You can spend time in it's cute cafes, the French quarters, the Aurobindo ashram and ofcourse it's clean serene beaches. What you must must visit while you are in Pondicherry is a neighbouring town called Auroville. It is a place like none other. It is an international community run on financial model of gift culture. The matrimandir, visitors centre, sadhana forest, Bharat bhawan, auro beach, etc. are some of the places you can visit. It's a place where experiments are happening in diverse fields like architecture, farming, energy, medicine, food and what not. Depending on your interests you can find more places to visit. The visitors centre is a central point of information for what you should be doing in Auroville. Hope this is helpful for your visit.
