Dev Deepawali 2025 in Varanasi will be celebrated on 5th November (Wednesday), when the entire city lights up to honor the descent of the gods to the Ganges. The main rituals take place between 5:15 PM and 7:50 PM, and all 84 ghats along the river glow with thousands of diyas, making it one of India’s most breathtaking festivals. The best ghats to witness the spectacle are Dashashwamedh Ghat (for the grand Ganga Aarti), Assi Ghat (for a more relaxed atmosphere), Rajendra Prasad Ghat, and Panchganga Ghat for their vibrant decorations and cultural programs. Watching the celebration from the ghats offers an authentic experience but can get very crowded, while a boat ride on the Ganges gives a peaceful panoramic view of the illuminated riverfront. Boats range from shared rides (₹3,000–₹5,000) to private or luxury cruises like Alaknanda or Rameshwaram Cruise (around ₹15,000 per person). It’s best to book your boat in advance and arrive by 4–5 PM to secure a good spot.
