Hi Sai, You need to purchase something called ETA before hand(after booking your flight tickets) and dont need any visa on arrival. The ETA for holiday costs only 25 USD each. I paid 100 USD for 5 people. And my total trip expenditure is 2.10 L for 5 people. We stayed in Airbnbs, hired a cab for the entire journey. And you get discounts in most government attractions like in Sigiriya or Pollonaruwa because of belonging to a SAARC country. Yay!

Visa is on arrival for Indians

Its e-visa that you will have to apply for before your journey with flight details and make payment online, not exactly visa on arrival. You will just be stamped there. Expenses would depend on your trip span.

Sri Lanka has Visa on arrivals.

Visa is easy because of the relationship. Sri Lanka will issue travelers an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) that allows you to enter the country for 30 consecutive days. Budget = 20K

It's not a pocket friendly destination. And even for visiting a temple, you need to purchase a ticket. check the prices online. expenses would depend on how many places you intend to cover. get an e-Visa beforehand.
