Hey Sushmita, Road to Leh via Manali and Srinagar opens from April or May. But in starting of April or May civilians are not allowed as in start of opening of road only army trucks come back from Leh. But you can go to Leh in late April via Srinagar because via Manali it opens from May. Hope this would help in your trip planing.

Hello tripper !! I should say Summers (June till September) are the best time to visit Ladakh! All passes and roads to this Land open up. Srinagar route is already running, Manali to Leh route starts running **tentatively from Mid June** This would be your last chance to visit rohtang pass as the tunnel for Rohtang is at full phase and by next year govt is planning to fully close Rohtang pass for a while . Spiti is a great option for you to be at by the way Thats via bike You can choose air way to leh but it will cut your travel sprit in ways ...

It will still be cold, not extreme side like in the winters but temperature at nights will still fall below zero. Srinagar-Leh highway opens usually by the second week of May

April marks the beginning of tourist season in Ladakh and the place starts to become alive with tourist activities. Restaurants open, hotels and guest houses get ready to welcome guest and various camps at sites such as Pangong Tso and Tso Moriri Lake commence to set up. By late April, all the lakes including the Pangong Tso and Tso Moriri begin to melt, uncovering the beautiful colors and fabulous sights. In order to welcome more guests, hotels and guesthouses offer heavy discounts. This benefits all the travelers who happen to be present here around this time. However, both Khardung La and Chang La still remain covered with snow and it’s a memorable experience in itself to pass through them.

With the coming of the month of April in your calendar summer sets in the lives of the people of Ladakh. This month also marks the beginning of the tourists’ seasons and people flock here in great numbers. The temperature is Maximum 15° C, Minimum -1° C at this time. During April heavy snowfall stops and the summertime takes over this whole place. One can see all the tourist places, hotels, homestays, and guest are welcomed with opened hands. If you are visiting Ladakh during this time then opt for flights as all the roads and the passes do not open at this time. The weather, however, is still not sunny and warm as the usual summers. Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport is the main airport of the area. The flights are directly connected from Delhi, Srinagar, and Jammu by the flights run by Air India, Go Air and Jet Airways. By late April, the lakes Pangong Tso and Tso Moriri start to melt, revealing the excellent hues and spectacular sights. During this time Leh has very beautiful weather with a clear sky but it is advisable to wear warm clothes for the adventure junkies as the sun can be a bit more dangerous during this time. You can visit the monasteries and the stupas which are the best places here.
