You can go to Malaysia then by train to Thailand. From Thailand to Cambodia them Vietnam from Vietnam to Singapore ten back to India.I hope for one months this is quite enough traveling.

Malaysia Cambodia and Indonesia is a must to do places and if properly plan you can do in about 3 weeks and if you have time left you may head to Thailand or Singapore as you like

Cambodia, Vietnam are the best pick. Myanmar, Laos and Indonesia are too but former will provide you better backpacking experience. Thailand too is good. Singapore & Malaysia are good but will be bit expensive.

My suggestion is start from Thailand. Thailand>Malaysia>Singapore>Bali (Indonesia)>Philippines. if time allows, then Vietnam.
