October is not the nice time for road trip to Ladakh, anyway if you have decided no need to worry about roads as BRO is taking care of it and every Tuesday they closed it for maintenance. Only thing you check with Manali muncipal corporation the closing dates of road for outsiders or travellers. You will get waters on roads for sure. dont forget to carry first aid box and safety equipment. Its gonna be more adventures as you are expecting; believe me (y) Good Luck

Hey Etc fun unlimited, Many don't take a risk of attempting the ride to leh via manali after September last week. Here is the link from devils on wheels on the issues one may face on this point of time :- https://devilonwheels.com/5-reasons-to-avoid-manali-leh-highway-in-late-september-or-october/ But on an other hand if you are capable and tough enough to withstand the hurdles you can go ahead.... Happy Travelling!!!!

First week of October is possible but quite dangerous. I recently came from there. The road condition is pathetic. You will come across through many waterfall crossings. But the journey is quite adventurous as well.

Srinagar route is better than Manali route. If you go from Manali route you can have high altitude sickness. I also wants to go to ladakh but I am going in April, roads are not good and covered with heavy snow. If you really wants to go then you have a good satellite phone is necessary

The road conditions are just perfect. If you are going by Manali the roads are good except at few parts near Serchu. Baralacha recently recieved season's first snowfall. From Srinagar the roads are just awesome but takes atleast 2 days to reach Leh.

Road trip to Ladakh in October is not at all recommended. You should wait and plan it next year anywhere from June to August last week.

As the month of October sets in the whole place is filled with a new life again. This is one of the best periods for visiting the stunning and beautiful areas of Leh and Ladakh as the place is permeated in brilliant hues. From Srinagar-Leh and also Manali-Leh all the roads are brimming with people. Snowfall begins and cold wave clears over the zones of high elevations. Camps nearby the lakes too are closed. The temperature during this time remains Maximum 14° C, Minimum -1° C. Those traveling by roads then the Manali-Leh roadway are open however you will run over snow secured streets and the majority of the visitor houses, dhabas and so on are closed during this period. You can also take flight according to your demands. The prices will be a bit cheaper than its usual cost. Another interesting thing that you can enjoy if you are visiting at this time is the Diskit Festival which is held in this month. Visit the monasteries and also pass through Khardungla Pass and then the majestic Nubra Valley. Explore the beauty of this region and don’t miss a chance to try the double-humped camel ride in Ladakh.
