Let me share my experience with you. I started my journey in Mumbai. It took around 12 hrs to reach Gokarna from Navi Mumbai. I took an AC sleeper Volvo. The journey for the most part twisty. I was flying in my bed during the ghat section. I boarded at around 6 in the evening on Friday. And reached round 6 in the morning. We booked our stay in a hostel known as Trippr. It’s located in the middle beach which is just adjacent to the Gokarna beach. Middle beach is a private beach. Explore Gokarna is a great option to rent bikes from. They will charge you around Rs.300–400 for a day. We went straight to Vibhooti Falls. It’s around 40 Km’s from the city. The ride is smooth for most of the journey with no traffic at all and beautiful scenery all the way. After that, it’s a 15 mins trek from there.
Note- The closing time of Vibhooti Falls is 5 pm. We spent some time in Om beach and then We ate at a very good restaurant, Namaste Samudra Cafe which is located at Middle beach.
You can visit Mirjan fort. Good Luck!!
Happy Travelling!!

Slowly but steadily, it is still developing as a tourist destination. This explains why Gokarna is less expensive than Goa. In the off-season, you can find a room to rent for less than $500 that is also close to the beach. Compared to Goa, food is also more affordable. https://ducklife.online
