Hi Ranjitkumar, Mangalore is a great choice for solo travelling. Also, the perfect time to visit here is from October-February when the weather is pleasant unlike in April-August. Must visit these places in Mangalore: Panambur Beach, Kudroli Gorakhnath Temple, Mangalore Beach, Sultan Battery, Ullal Beach and Sakleshpur. If you are travelling on your own bike/car then its awesome. Otherwise you can easily get cabs, private buses and govt operated KSRTC buses. Have a safe trip!

Adding to the suggestions below of places to visit in and around Mangalore. About 60 kms away from the city, there's St. Mary's Island where the shore is mostly shells and rocks and less of fine sand. To reach the island you'll have to take a bus from Mangalore to Malpe then catch a ferry from malpe beach to the island. Cuisine wise, Sea food preparation like Sukka, ghee roast, Seer fish or pomfret tava / masala fry are a must try. Some of the famous places you'll find them are giri manjas, machli, meen ootada mane. Most of these places can be found on zomato as well. Mangalore is also known for its gadbad ice cream at some of the local joints especially Ideals ice cream parlor / pabbas ice cream parlour. Travelling inside city limits isn't that hard as the bus service to most places in the city is well connected. Apart from that you can also use auto rickshaws or cabs (ola/uber) or self driven cars (zoomcars) are also available for rent based in your needs.

Hi, being a mangalorean i can say that mangalore is totally safe for a solo trip. Previous answers have covered all the must visit places, but since it is a city for popular for fish cuisine, you can head to Mangalore port, "Dakke", in local language, and see the fresh fish being brought in from the fishing boats and auctioned at the port. The port is open for anyone and the best time to visit there is early in the morning around 5.30-8.00 AM. Hope you like the smell of the fishes being brought in. All the best and have fun while in mangalore

If you've planned on going on a solo trip to Mangalore, then your choice of place is just perfect! Here the stays are extremely reasonable, indulge in some delicious sea food if you love non veg. If you're a vegetarian then you still have plenty of options. Explore the beaches and soak into the historic temple experience here. You can also explore some offbeat places here unknown to most of people.
