Hello Satyajit, I'll be happy to answer your travel queries from my experience ☺️ *January is a good time to visit Ooty , Kodaikanal and the south india .the part will be full of foggy atmosphere and will be perfect for a cup of hot coffee made from fresh coffee beans . *Beauty like Palani Hills and the Kodaikanal Weather is something that one must experience for the place is not just a summer retreat but offers so much more in terms of culture, natural sights, and architecture and has something for everyone to connect with and enjoy – be it boating, hiking, trekking, camping or just enjoying the fresh air that cleanses and heals your heart. *The majestic “Queen of the Hills” forms part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, reputed for its fragile and exquisite ecosystem. In the ecological parlance, it is best known as a “hotspot”, the label justifying the designation of the section of the Western Ghats as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Hello Its actually not a bad time to visit these two places. It'll be cold but not freezing. If you love being bundled up in warm clothes and seeing hours of fog and dew drops as ice on plants, you'll love Ooty and Kodai in Jan. Otherwise, March, April would be the best time.

It is a good time to visit both the places. It will be cold but not exactly like the cold weather you get in the mountains of north india.I'm attaching with this comment travel guide for both the places, you can go through them and plan your trip.
