The cheapest way to reach Hampi from Mysore is to take Hampi Exp from Mysore to Hospet then take a taxi from Hospet to Hampi.

If you want a road trip, that's the best.
The road conditions are good except for the last 20kms.

Hospet is the nearest city to Hampi , Its very connected in Trains , Bus. But its avoidable to travel in summer , coz it would be very hot :)

You can reach to hospet from mysore by bus and train if directly available. Then take bus to hampi from hospet which is just 45 min distance. But during summer visiting hampi is bad idea. Still You can make it if you wander in morning and sunset time only

Hospete is nearest station to hampi which is 25km.
you can directly reach via national highway.

There will be a direct bus from mysore to hospet .from there u can go to hampi .
