Share your dates and the start point, this amount is enough for a city. some quick tips to help you based on my 7-8 solo trip experiences. travel via public mode of transport like local busee, sleeper train or shared autos/taxis to roam around. Stay in budget hotels/backpacker hostels. Try to look for offers/deal to save before you plan. Try to get tickets booked little early to get train tickets confirmed without hassle. hope this will help you. Have a great journey ahead with lots of super experience.

Hi I would suggest, you begin with Kolkata, as transportation, food and lodging is really affordable. Moreover, you have plenty of places one can visit here.

Buses, hitch hike and trains for long distance travel. short distance can be easily done by shared autos or again hitch hike. Stay always in b&b, home stay, zostels. there are so many of such kind. avoid restaurants. stay away from fine dining and fancy restaurants and run for the local street food. read a lot about the place you are visiting. have an itinerary of at least the must do for every place. time table of local transport is very important. stay close to railways station and bus stations. the accommodation are cheap there plus lots of options for travelling. find a travel agent for local sigh seeing. they can always hook you up with a bigger group which means luxury of a private car but you split the cost. rest if you need more help the community is right here to support you :) happy travelling
