I am off to visit the Snake Boat Race in Allepy this weekend but here are my few recommendations for your solo trip to RISHIKESH. Non Touristy Season: The plus point about going in August to Rishikesh is that it would be less touristy. However, given the heavy rainfall, River rafting and other river adventures are suspended in August. What to visit: Ram Jhula, Lakhsman Jhula, Garud Chatti fall and Neer Garh falls are few places that you can visit. IF you are a Beatles' fan don't forget to miss the ashram near Lakshman Jhula where they had stayed. It has some lovely wall graffiti. I would highly recommend Ganga Aarti at Har ki Pauri. I have recently returned from Varanasi and the Ganga Arti there is also breathtaking. Aastha Path or Marine Drive of Rishikesh is a walking path by the river Ganga and it's a lovely place to spend some time by yourself. Where to stay: If you are traveling on a budget consider staying at Zostel / Moustache Hostels. Cafe: Hide out Cafe near Sai Ghat is good :) Hope this helps. Richa www.lighttravelaction.com
