Mid may - Sept is the best time to go to Greece. I had recently been to Greece for couple of weeks and covered mostly islands. So here is our itinerary: 2 days in Athens
2 day tour to Delphi-Meteora
3 days in Mykonos (night life) 3 days in Santorini (Santorini Wine tasting, Oia-Fira trek) 3 days in Crete (Samaria Gorge is must do) Additionally, you can also look into Peloponnese /Nafplio, Thessaloniki, Naxos/Paros (islands)

For us, it was around 1.5-1.6L but then Euro was around 68-69 and also we had been there in the last week of April and first week of May (just before the start of the season - low rates) Tickets would cost you close to 30K if you book 4-5 months before (Mumbai - Athens return)
