Hi Sompurna, You will have to know your fitness level. Exercise daily and build your stamina. Get Hiking shoes. Start walking for some time daily in those shoes to get used to it. Also take a small backpack while walking which will carry your essentials to get used to the weight. Start with some nearby hills which requires a couple of hours of hiking. Go to some easy treks at first.

Hi Sompurna It's great that you have decided to lace up your boots and go on a hike! Hikes are physically challenging but the surrounding sights and the view at the end make it all worth it. Since you are starting out, you can assess your fitness level and go for an easy, moderate or difficult trek. Triund, Kedarkantha, Valley of Flowers and Sandakphu are great for beginners and will ease you into hiking. Once you get through these, you can move on the moderate or difficult as per your liking. Here are a variety of treks with accounts from hikers for you to go through. https://www.tripoto.com/explore/trekking Here are a few tips to follow when you go hiking: Pace yourself - You might feel energetic when you start the trek but it's important to conserve energy so that you can make it all the way to the end. Pick a pace you can keep up comfortably. Pack light - Don't get bogged down on a trek by carrying a heavy backpack. Throw in a few essentials which you can carry comfortably. Remember, you'll be pulling your own body weight plus whatever you carry. Wear the right shoes - You'll be clambering over rocks and wading through mud so put on sturdy shoes with a good sole to keep your feet comfortable. Good luck with your first hike! :)
