Mcleodganj is a perfect summer getaway! however 10 days are more than enough cover the whole area. but you wish to stay there for a month, it's still good. That place is worth several visits. go for it

Triud , Kareri Lake, Kangra Fort are must visiting places. Yes ofcourse it is best time to go there for a month as there will be pleasant weather this time.

I would suggest you take some voluntary work there, either in a monastery,school or shelter home where you can give 2-3 hours of your day. Visit as many monasteries as you can, mainly the Tiger Monastery, Norbulingka Institute. Mcleodganj is famous for its food, so do make sure you try every single cuisine, my favourite was Tibetan and Italian. Go cafe hopping, visit nearby towns ( dharamkot , naddi, dalhousie). Go to Dharamshala, visit HPCA stadium and many museums.

Drive a little ahead too go to Palampur, bir billing and visit the Barot valley. all are drivable distance within 50Kms from Mcleodgunj. May is fine weather wise but nights can get cold upto about ten degrees so carry light woolens.

Bro mcleodganj is the best. Go to Buddhist monastery and relax over there daily for a month. For trekking activities go for Kareri Lake trek, Triund trek, Dharamshala, Bhagsu Nag waterfall trek. But i think one month is more than enough you can squeeze some time.

When the entire country is bearing the scorching summer heat, Mcleod Ganj experiences soother temperatures at the beginning of the summer season in April. Of course, as the season progresses, it does hit a maximum of 38°C during the peak afternoon hours. Otherwise, it hovers between 22°C and 32°C; which is quite a respite for those visiting the town on summer vacations.
