Well, kerala is small yet very deep state. If you are planning to visit during this time then it will be pretty hot over there and as far as I know monsoon are bad there too. If you are going before monsoon then you can go to hill stations to beat the heat such as munnar, idduki, thekkady, vagamon, periyar National Park, ponmudi, anamali tiger reserve, etc. Other places such as varkala, alapuzza, kollam, trivandrum, Kochi etc are beach places and hence it will be hot there.

Don't visit in rainy season as you will not be able to cover places due to rains all the time...you can go to backwaters for a half day tour in backwaters..it's s must watch..then go to allepy beach in the evening..do try the local flavours of kerala..collect spices of variety from spice market..if you have time you may go to munnar and nearby places
