Where are you coming from?
After reaching Punjab you can head to Ludhiana for some nice places to dine and drink, also go through a variety of shopping malls. Route 1 After that you can head to Chandigarh, again numerous good place to dine & drink plus you get to spend time in the most planned and beautiful city. Places like Sukhna Lake, Rock Gardern & Chhatbir Zoo are some of the best tourist spots, if they're of your interest. Else from Chandigarh you can head to Kasauli - Solan - Shimla - Narkanda (order of occurrence) the popular hill stations in H.P. 1-2 days in Kasauli & Solan are enough. From Solan you can go to Barog, there is a very nice & quaint Monastery down the valley. After that Shimla & Narkanda can be covered in 3-4 days. Shimla is mostly crowded these days with Familes, Narkanda is relatively quieter and more peaceful. Route 2
From Ludhiana instead of going to Chandigarh you can go towards Jalandhar and to Dharamshala & McLeodganj. It is a 5-6 hour drive from Ludhiana. Mcleodganj is very famous again. But very crowded these days. Atop Mcleod is Dharamkot which is relatively quieter. These can be covered in 2-4 days. Route 3
You can head to Manali from Ludhiana via Nangal/Anandpur Sahib.
It is approx 10 hour drive from Ludhiana so 4-5 days needed for this one. Manali too is very crowded these days. Atop Manali there are other stops like Solang Valley, Old Manali, Rohtang Pass and then the very famous Leh-Ladakh. Hope this was helpfull.

It will take at least 7 days if u r coming from Delhi.I don't much about Punjab but in himachal u should visit chamba Dalhousie manali and dharamshala. As I m from himachal u can ask me more queries related to himachal

If you're visiting Punjab do visit the bagha border. Dalhousie, dharamshala both are beautiful. manali is quite crowded and but worth a visit. Shimla is beautiful too. The mall road Shimla has some amazing shops and great valley views. There is a place called narkanda. Beautiful views.
