I think backpacking in dorms or hostels are so much into trend nowadays. You can get some dorms with amazing interior and ambience like Zostel. Try staying in hostel and you can meet traveler's who share same interests like yours.

Always hostel if you are not a big fan of complimentary breakfast and definitely hostel if bread omelet cereals and coffee is all you need to start a beautiful day. Hostel also gives solo travellers the opportunity to greet and meet like minded travel buddies and share experiences. Above all a dorm bed is less expensive compared to a hotel room.
