Hello! Rajasthan would be a great choice to travel solo. You can start with Jaipur, and travel to Pushkar & Ajmer. Also, Jodhpur & Jaisalmer would be great - and you'll find several solo backpackers from abroad there as well. My personal favorite is Udaipur though - with beautiful lakes and gorgeous boutique cafes :) You'll find Zostel in all the places, which is the best choice for solo travelers. Make sure to camp in the desert if you're in Jaisalmer.

Don't miss out on Udaipur .. Also be careful from the local vendors few might cheat you because they understand the difference between localities and outsiders.

Khama ghani! A solo trip in Rajasthan will definitely as beautiful to any of the hilly areas. Trust me. There is too many giant structures, be it forts, doors, dunes, starry nights! If you are a backpacker, you have plenty of opportunities to work at NGOs and can earn stays with food at hotels who need you to publicize them. The unadulterated music, the colourful culture, cold nights and bonfires at camps really fill your soul as you meet fellow travellers with their experiences. Starting from Jaipur, Ajmer, to Jodhpur, camping at Oshian, or Amer, following the trail toward Jaisalmer where you can thrill your guts with sand dunes experience.
