Matheran, Lonavala are the hill station that can you explore on your feet. in Goa you can rent a bicycle and explore particular area. other than that if you don't want to hire a private vehicle, explore by city bus or state transport buses. in small cities auto rickshaws are also cheap way to explore.

Exactly that type of traveller I am. Not all towns have such good transport facilities. I am looking for the name of few of such places.
You can plan treks in Uttarakhand or Himachal.

Here are few Places where all you can enjoy without having a headache of booking a can which will hurt your money :- Pondicherry is all about renting a bike for 350 for whole day or a bicycle ... Goa is also as same as above ... Hampi is exactly same, all with scooters and bicycles all around ... Varkala in Kerala also has bikes for rent ... Mysore in Karnataka also has all features ... Manali and Shimla in Himachal Pradesh also you can hire two wheelers for maximum upto 500 rupees per day ... port Blair and Havelock islands and neil islands in andaman and Nicobar islands also has rented bike options ... in search of more ... do ping me ... Hey Arindam, In the following places you have no need to book any cab for local sight seeing : 1)Parvati Valley ( Malana, Kasol,Rashol,Kheerganga trek) 2)Agra and Fatehpur Sikri 3)Varanasi 4)Jaipur 5)Kolkata 6)Mumbai All places mentioned above can be covered using sharing buses or jeeps. There is no need to book any costly private cab. Hope this helps.

I have heard a lot of these places. Yet to make it there. Have been to Triandrum, Varkala, Kovalam
Shillong which is a. capital of Meghalaya...there are so many tourist places in Shillong you should visit some places like , cherapunjee,jaintia hills,dawki,mawlynglong,... you will see several waterfalls , moving clouds, transparent water in dawki river... these all are very popular tourists places of india....I will suggest you to please do visit Shillong once in your Life time. I am 100% # sure you will never regret after visiting all these sight scenes of Shillong.Thank you.
