Uttarakhand is a great place to go solo only if you keep few things in mind. 1.warm clothes. the temperature drops to near 0°C in winters so always carry loads of warm clothes with you. wear clothes in multiple layers than single thick one. carry gloves, caps, extra socks, etc. 2. weather forecast it a a place where weather changes every hour. always check for the weather forecast if it's going to rain/snow/any news about recent landslide. 3. it is very safe to travel to Uttrakhand. localites are very helpful and supportive. 4. pre-booking as the place is full with tourists from all over, it is better to pre book hotels for easy stay. 5.all the places are suitable for a solo trip. you should visit tirthan, Lansdowne, Auli...they are short trip destinations. Mcleodganj and triund trek will take around 3-4days. Nainital, Dehradun- Mussoorie are sight seeing places.

Make sure you don't fall into hands of scammers where tell you take to a nice hotel and lead you to a hostel. Carry least cash as possible and use plastic money instead Uttarakhand would have a very chilly weather make sure you get a room which has a heater or at least hot water facility. I would recommend to carry a water heater People there are quite good to talk to and don't be shy. Just ask for directions to a panwala or a shopkeeper. Avoid asking to people, sometimes they lead you wrong. If you are in city like dehradun or nainital then data connectivity would be great so better use Google maps. Do visit nainital and rishikesh since you are a solo and have no dependency.

Book your travel medium in advance. You can always book the train ticket on time. the reservation has to be done. If you are planning by car, bus or plane, then it is a different case. * Be careful when you trust people. * Negotiate while you are shopping. This will save you lots of money. * Cover up & dress conservatively just to avoid staring eyes. It is ok to wear whatever you want on some beaches & Metro cities. Try to avoid short dress in village & remote areas. * You can find a variety of food in different states in India. Wherever you are traveling. Google the local food and taste it. Good Luck!! Happy Travelling!!
