Try to do it between Jan-May..it will be relatively dry, before the monsoons set in, and the days begin to grow longer after the winter solstice, giving you more daylight hours to ride and explore.

I am assuming you would start your trip from Guwahati. The best time is between Nov- April as after that monsoon starts to kick in.

Nov- March is the proper time for the better climate and view.... rain starts by April n most of the parts.... you can get bikes on rental at ahija.com
Winter is already here as the north men have said always and it's the best season to ride.
