If you are looking for something relaxing minus the long travel hours then Lonavala is good option but if you like beaches and water sports then Alibaug is a great choice

Mumbai to Lonavala is around 80-85 kms and would take about 2 hrs and Mumbai to Alibaug is 100 kms approx so 3 hours tentatively. Car would be convenient option to reach any of both the places
If you want to enjoy beaches and sports then Alibaug is a good destination. Otherwise if you want to enjoy peace and looking for some weekend gateway then Lonavala will be better choice.

Both places have their own charm. To enjoy the beaches and liveliness you can visit Alibaug but to enjoy the beauty of nature and a lot of greenery and for a peaceful experience you can opt for Lonavala.
