Drove from Bangalore to Yelagiri via Sarjapur, Kuppam covering NH-219. This will be a great, great trip if you like driving. Getting out of Sarjapur was a big trouble but once out it was a dream. Narrow roads passing through jungles but you will hardly get oncoming traffic. This road is called MDR456. Don't expect to be racing at very high speeds but 50 kmph should be good. Roads are not so smooth but flowing curves and scenic beauty driving along the river in a dense jungle where you won't find any human let alone traffic is a terrific experience. For Check posts Karavalli, where you have to pay Rs 20 per head to enter the forest area. and there was no strict limit on the time. And try to avoid Bandipur route as the checkpost only open from 6am to 8pm. Mach's Gut!

Hi Keerthi, Lakshadweep is a jewel place to visit. To reach Lakshadweep you can avail ship services from Cochin. Seven passenger ships are operated from Cochin to Lakshadweep such as MV Arabian Sea, MV Dweep Setu, MV Kavaratti, MV Bharat Seema, MV Minicoy, MV Lakshadweep Sea and MV Amindivi Sea. The journey through this route takes around 14 to 20 hours.A five days/four-nights first-class accommodation for a cruise like Samudram costs approximately INR 30,000 for an adult, exclusive of taxes. This includes both transportation and tour charges. Here are few suggestions created by real travelers on Tripoto. Please take a look. Thanks!.

I won't say the place as offbeat but it's a definite treat. Trek to Tadiandamol, the highest peak in Karnataka. The best way is to start the trek early in the morning from the base. Have a full day reserved for this since the hike would probably be 10 Kms on foot. Carry proper trekking stuffs and water bottles. The view and the way is absolutely worth it. Cheers.

Hi David, Vasuki Tal via Tapovan is a trek with unique visuals where you walk over glaciers for miles & camp at the foot of towering Himalayan peaks like Mount Shivling. The trek has the highest altitude of 4800 M at Vasuki Tal and is graded as moderate to challenging. The trek involves crossing many glaciers and boulders and that makes this trek really thrilling and different from other treks. En route you get stunning views of peaks that pose a challenge to mountaineers such as Shivling, Thalay Sagar, Meru, and Bhagirathi I, II, III. The trail of Vasuki Tal Trek goes through Gaumukh - the source of mighty river Ganga and Tapovan - the gorgeous alpine meadow of religious significance for Hindus. Since this trek is still less explored, it gives the trekkers a unique chance of experiencing nature at its best. In order to Vasuki Tal Trek, you must have some prior experience of trekking in the Himalayas. The best time to do Tapovan and Vasuki Tal is May - June, and September - October.

Brindavan gardens is close to Mysore city than it is to Mandya city( though it belongs to Mandya dist). I would suggest you get a room in Mysore city itself. also the Rangantittu bird sanctuary is equally distant from Mysore and Mandya.
