Hi Taniya Assuming you will travel by bus, and are planning a weekend trip, would suggest to travel with a friend/companion to reduce cost. Home stay cost (Shillong)- Approx. 1500 per day (minimum, for a safe stay)
Travel expense is high- Approx. 2000 per day locally to visit places outside Shillong (Like Dawki, Cherrapunji, etc.), and you can use local transport for within Shillong options
Food Expense- Approx. 500 per day per person, in a decent home stay You might have to push your budget a little up and split it with a friend to cover within 5K. Cheers!

GMVN is having only dormitory tent in Kedarnath, it's cheaper then hotel. they are heaving thali system for fooding too. if you are looking in budget then GMVN dormitory is best.

Excellent choice these.. if I were in your shoes, is take a local transport service and get down at the highway to these destinations and try hitchhiking from there on. Just don't give up hope for it may take some time before you actually get picked. Chances are that you'll get someone visiting those same places or even if not, you can always request to be dropped at nearest points to both natural beauties of the national parks. Hitchhiking doesn't have to be via cars, in my experience truck drivers are the best people to hitchhike with so I'll strongly recommend a truck based hitchhiking. they may charge you some nominal amount but the experience from front of the truck seat and the view, given the greenery and the jungle on the sides of the road add to the delight and experience of traveling... my best wishes..

1. Capitals tour. Copenhagen-> Oslo-> Stockholm -> Helsinki
2. Northern Light. Oslo-> Tromso-> Lofoten Islands
3.Fjord Trip. Norway in a Nutshell(You can see my blog in tripoto on this) September end is quite a bad time considering it would be raining most of the time.
