The Founder’s Memorial is a tribute to Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the first president of the United Arab Emirates, and the man who spearheaded the formation of the Union. The memorial features a Heritage Garden, in the midst of which stands an art installation called The Constellation, created out of 1,327 geometric shapes suspended on 1,110 cables. This remarkable structure combines to form a three-dimensional portrait of Sheikh Zayed, also known as Father of the Nation in the UAE. The Heritage Garden is home to the UAE's national tree, the Ghaf, as well as other desert plants such as sidr, acacias and date palms. A flowing water feature complements the surrounding greenery. The installation is illuminated at night, shining as brightly as Sheikh Zayed’s vision for the UAE.
