This story started back in 2020 when I became a member of the Tripoto Videographers Community and met some like minded people. Being a part of this community was itself a big opportunity for me, however travelling with someone from this community was something that happened for the first time.

So, I was planning a trip to the middle land "The mighty Spiti valley".

Spiti Valley is situated in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Spiti district is surrounded by high mountain ranges. It's the land of the Dalai Lamas, dotted with high peaks, narrow river valleys and a  cold, dry desert.

This was not the first time that I was going to Spiti. I went to Spiti last year. I was so mesmerized by it that I had to go again.

I asked all the people in the group ( Tripoto Videographers Group) if anyone wanted to come along. And this guy, Shubham Gandhi aka TheBluespoonTraveler, turned up for the trip. I used to watch his vlogs and after talking to him for the very first time, I realised he is "Never say No" kind of a guy.

So it was our 8-day trip, and we started our journey from Chandigarh where we both met as strangers. As the journey continued we started sharing our travel experiences and spoke about our social media journeys. We were so busy enjoying the views and talking that we didn’t realise we had already reached Narkanda. The next day we left for Sangla and played the traditional Himachal Holi. It felt great. We were not just travelling but we also got to celebrate a festival in its pure form.

The following day we left for Chitkul, the last village of India. We explored a bit, took some really cool shots and headed to Kalpa. We went to the Kalpa Suicide Point which had a spectacular view. So we took some drone shots and then we also went to Kalpa Monastery.

As the days were passing on the trip, I got to know that Shubham's way of seeing things was very different from mine. He didn't have a drone and I had never used a DSLR before, so it was a time for me to learn using DSLR and for him to learn about the drone.

The next day we finally entered the Spiti Valley. Through the Nako village we went to Geu Monastery where we saw a 550 year old mummified body of a monk. Then we directly went to Tabo and stayed there for the night.

The next morning we went to Tabo Monastery. Then we left for Kaza via Dhankar Monastery, which is 1000 years Old. Kaza is the capital of Spiti Valley. That evening we went to Kaza Market and stayed in a homestay that night, The owner of the local stay baked a cake for us and offered us local drinks. That night we partied and got to know each other better.

The next day we did local Sight Seeing. Spiti Valley is famous for Sight Seeing like Chicham Bridge , key Monastery, Hikkim ( highest post office), Langza village (langza buddha statue) and Komic village ( Highest Village in world). That was the last day on the trip as we had to leave for home the next morning. We were both shooting and capturing everything throughout the trip.

On our way back we were discussing about the content that we would post. We shared data and also shared our knowledge about photography and filmmaking. We talked about the whole trip and were memorising it already. We were carrying back a bag brimful of memories.

Tripoto is such an amazing community and I am so thankful for getting to know this great guy through it. We meet people, we share experiences. It is a continuous learning process. Maybe the next time someone else will bump into my travel world.

There’s a whole world out there waiting for us to explore it. It’s a never ending journey.

Happy travelling!
