Last year, I witnessed the famous Kullu Dussehra Festival. It should be a bucket list trip. In 2019 , it starts on October 8 and will continue for 7 days.The festival is celebrated in the in the Dhalpur maidan in the Kullu valley. It is a week long congregation of the local devtas and devis. This festival has a very interesting history.
I have tried to build up two itinerary suggestions for Kullu Dussehra Festival for people traveling from Kolkata.
Suggestion 1:
2nd October : Train to Amritsar, 3rd Oct - Reach Amritsar and explore, 4th Oct - Explore Amritsar, 5th Oct- Move to Palampur via Chintpurni and Kangra, 6th Oct - Explore Palampur, 7th Oct - Palampur to Bir (You could try Paragliding) and move to Kullu, 8th & 9th Oct - Enjoy Kullu Dussera Festival, 1oth Oct - Kullu to Bilaspur, 11th Oct- Bilaspur-Chandigarh-Howrah.
Suggesion 2 :
1st October : Train to Kalka, 3rd Oct - Reach Kalka and take toy train to Shimla, 4th Oct - Explore Shimla, 5th Oct- Shimla- Hatu Peak-Narkhanda, 6th Oct - Narkhanda to Gushaini, 7th Oct - Gushaini to Kullu, 8th & 9th Oct - Enjoy Kullu Dussera Festival, 1oth Oct - Kullu to Bilaspur, 11th Oct- Bilaspur-Chandigarh-Howrah.
