I’ve stayed in Kasol for over a year now, and I guess that gives me a little right to share a few things about this beautiful mountain village. It’s more than just a pit stop for travellers on their way to Kheerganga — Kasol has a charm that quietly grows on you. The mornings here start with mist rolling over the Parvati River, and by evening, cafés come alive with music, laughter, and the smell of momos and coffee.

Let me take you through some of my favourite places and corners that made Kasol feel like home.

🕉️ Manikaran – The Hot Springs & Faith A 15-minute drive from Kasol, Manikaran is always buzzing with stories, prayers, and steam rising from the hot springs. It’s said that Guru Nanak and Lord Shiva both blessed this place — and you can feel something sacred in the air.
I often came here on quiet mornings to sit by the Parvati River, sip the chai offered in the Gurudwara, and just watch the clouds drift above the white domes. It’s the kind of peace that humbles you.

🏔️ Kheerganga Trek – A Must-Do Adventure If you’re in Kasol, don’t skip the Kheerganga Trek — it’s one of those trails that reward you at every turn. The trek starts from Barshaini and takes about 4–5 hours to reach the top. The route passes through waterfalls, pine forests, and small villages like Nakthan and Rudranag.

The best part? The natural hot spring at the top. After hours of trekking, dipping into that warm water surrounded by snow-clad peaks feels unreal — like nature’s own therapy. I did the trek during late autumn, and it was the perfect mix of crisp air and golden sunlight. You’ll find plenty of cafés along the way to rest and grab Maggi or chai.

🌿 Pulga – My Favourite Hideout If I had to pick one place that truly holds my heart, it’s Pulga. Just a short walk from Barshaini, this small village is wrapped in tall deodars and apple orchards, with tiny wooden cafés that look straight out of a fairytale. There’s no noise, no rush — just calm and a sense of being far, far away.

The Fairy Forest here is magical, especially when the sunlight filters through the trees. If you ever visit, stay a night or two. Walk without a map, sit by the stream, and just let the mountain silence talk to you.

🏡 Grahan Village – no network village (a trail worth taking)

If you love hidden trails, hike to Grahan from Kasol. It’s about 10 km and takes around 3–4 hours by walk, and 1.5 hour via vehicle ( covers 8 km) through forest bridges and streams. The village greets you with wooden homes, friendly locals, and kids who’ll wave at you like old friends.

There’s no road here, which makes it even more special. The nights are cold, the sky is endless, and conversations happen around firewood and Maggi bowls.

☕ Cafés You Must Try

Kasol’s café culture is its heartbeat. Whether you’re travelling solo or with friends, you’ll find yourself returning to these:

Evergreen Café – Classic vibes, amazing Israeli platters, and the best hot chocolate.

Jim Morrison Café – Tucked uphill, surrounded by pine trees, it’s all about music, art, and chill conversations.

Moon Dance Café – Perfect for breakfast and people-watching.

Lalit Kitchen – Just the sound of the river and a steaming cup of coffee.

🥟 Where to Eat Local

If you’re craving local or Tibetan food, there’s no better place than:

Sonam Tibetan Dhaba – The momos and siddu here are divine.

Shambhu Momos – Street-style momos that’ll ruin all other momos for you forever.

Trust me, after a long trek or just a lazy day, these places feel like heaven.

💭 Before You Leave Kasol isn’t just about treks or cafés — it’s about slowing down. It’s where you find peace in the little things: mountain air, chai by the river, a walk that takes longer because you keep stopping to look at the view. And if you ever plan to explore Parvati Valley or need help building an itinerary for Himachal, I’d love to help you plan something meaningful and unhurried — like the mountains themselves.
