In the backdrop of Dhauladhar ranges, "HE" is residing there as Svyambhu, as ardhnareshwra and in the form of Vaidyanath(Baijnath) i.e. The Lord of Doctors.
With Nagra style of architecture, not much is known about this temple but the two inscriptions in temple shed some light on it's history. Baijnath temple was built in 1204AD by two wealthy mechants Manyuka and Ahuka. Later on, in 1906 it was repaired as it suffered damages due to earthquake which rocked the kangra district in 1906.
Apart from this, two Mythological stories are attached to this temple which dates back to tretayug and dwaparyug.
In tretayug, it is believed that Ravana had rested here while taking the Shivlinga to Lanka.
And in Dwaparyuga, the temple was established by Pandvas during their Agyatvaas.
Right now the temple is maintained by ASI.
