We went to Shimla, Himachal Pradesh - the queen of hills, just after the lockdown opened. After 2 months of lockdown, we expected to go out and explore the mountains. However, our experience was not as expected.

We started our journey on a Friday night from Delhi. We reached Parwanoo to see this beautiful new garden created by government on the way to Shimla. We stopped for 15mins and enjoyed the beauty of the hills!

As we proceeded towards Shimla, we realised we were completely wrong in estimating that Himachal wont be crowded as the lockdown just opened. The traffic started increasing and it took us 2 hours more than the estimated time.

We reached Shimla just to realise that not booking a hotel in advance was not a wise decision. We struggled to find a good hotel but fortunately found an amazing hotel near Victory Tunnel with an amazing view. We booked Hotel Lord Regency- watch the video here.

Day 1

We took rest and went to see the famous mall road of Shimla in the evening. Due to COVID-19, there were strict timings for shops and lift. Lift was operational only till 9PM. Apart from restaurants or food related shops, every other store closed by 8PM. Restaurants however were open till 10PM. Since, we reached late, we decided to stay on the mall road post 9PM as well. We walked down the stairs to Shimla parking, as the lift got closed.

Day 2

We decided to explore a new location in Shimla- Army Heritage Museum which we had never visited before. Museum was closed due COVID, however, the road Annadale Road which took us towards the museum was a great experience. Apart from Museum, you can visit other places in Shimla such as Mall Road, Christ Church, Himachal State Museum, Kufri, Toy Train, Jakhoo Temple and Helipad.
