Just 10 km south of Ranikhet are the famous fruit-laden orchards of Chaubatia, perched at an altitude of 1800 m and sprawls over 600 acres of land. It boasts of more than 200 exotic varieties of fruits and flowers.. These orchards are known for delicious apples of several exclusive varieties, apricots, peaches and various other alpine fruits. These can be directly procured from the growers themselves. There is also a state-run Fruit Research Centre. Situated nearby is Bhalu Dam in the background of a beautiful lake created by this dam, which attracts tourists round the year.
Chaubatia with its serene environment and natural beauty is an excellent place for a picnic with the family. Along with this, the surroundings of this place provides panoramic views of the snow clad mountain peaks of Himalayas, as well as Nanda Devi Temple, Trishul, Nandaghunti, and Nilkanth.
