Imagine being stuck in a bustling city like Kochi when all you want is to be lounging on a pristine beach, soaking up the sun and celebrate the festive time with your family and loved ones. That's the unfortunate reality for hundreds of Lakshadweep students who found themselves stranded during the Onam holidays.

With hostels closed and ferry tickets as scarce as hen's teeth, these students were left high and dry. The situation was so dire that even former MP Mohammed Faizal had to step in and raise the alarm. He estimated that around 3,000 students might be affected.

Homesick and Helpless, the Stranded Ones

Can you imagine the stress of worrying about where to sleep and how to eat when you're far from home? Many of these students had no relatives in Kochi, so they were forced to dig deeper into their pockets just to stay afloat. And let's not forget the endless queues for tickets, which had students standing on their feet for hours on end.

Thankfully, the administration heard their cries and took action. They added extra ferry schedules and promised to get more ships in operation. But even with these measures, the students were still facing a tough time.

It's a reminder that even in today's world, unexpected hurdles can arise. And when you're far from home, those hurdles can feel even bigger.
