Mexico City
Mexico City's Estadio Azteca is one of the largest football stadiums in the world and the noise during a local match is deafening to say the least. It's a must-visit for any football fan.Famous footballers to have played here: Silvio Romero, Bruno Valdez, Hugo Sanchez, Ivan Zamorano.Things to do apart from football: Learn more about the Mayan origins at the National Museum of Anthropology. Visit the Zocalo square, it's the city's center.Average expenditure per day per head: Rs. 2,500Book the best hotels.Read more about the city.
Cabo San Lucas
I also decided to return to Cabo to end the trip again since I loved watching the whales there on RTW #5. Again, the whales did not disappoint! We saw dozens of whales on our 2-hour trip in the Sea of Cortez making Cabo one of the best values in the world for whale-watching. I spent the final night of my trip sitting on my balcony watching the sun set and the whales putting on yet another show. I saw several of them leap out of the water in a full breach and even got a few good pictures. (Remind me again why it’s necessary to pay for a whale-watching trip in this town?) Of all the whales we did see between the two trips – that’s one thing I’ve never seen them do up close. So cool.
Cancun
But to get here was a mission for us. Latvia is only small so we were unable to fly direct. Sleeping in Cologne Germany Airport awaiting this early morning departure to Cancun. The flight was 11hours (it was tough) we finally arrived at Cancun airport 5.30pm the following day. The sun was bright, the weather was perfect, hot and breezy in a mellow afternoon. We headed out to the exit to greet our shuttle bus which would take us to Green16 a little motel situated in Quintana Roo, a resort area of Cancun. The hotel wasn't a luxurious stay, by far, but to make this trip work, we must take on cheaper living (which is fine by me) £120 for 3 Nights. The first thing to do on our list was to locate Telcel to access the Internet to our phones. it's a little pricey but has lasted long and was crucial to our Mexico Trip.(all price information can be found at the bottom)
Cozumel
Anyone looking for a relaxing Caribbean cruise holiday should consider a cultural Cozumel cruise as it offers a real taste of Mexican life in a beautiful setting, with everything you could possibly wish for located on the small island. There are plenty of on-island tours to take advantage of, but the island is also small and safe enough for people to plan their own excursions and head off on a solo adventure. Deep Sea diving is a loved activity here. The historic sites and Mayan ruins are another reason to visit this island.
Zacatecas
Built out of quarried stone (even the streets and sidewalks), Zacatecas is an amazing Mexican city with few tourists. With a population of 300,000 people it boasts of impressive art galleries and museums. It is one of the most beautiful colonial cities I've ever seen. Its history dates back to the time of Cortez when it was a hotbed for silver mining with 20% of the silver mined here.
