Itinerary
  • Day 1: Arrival in Leh (altitude: 11,562 ft) – Acclimatization Day
  • Welcome to the land of high passes!
  • Today is a very crucial day from our health perspective. Our suggestion is to experience Leh Kule – Kule!. The sudden change in altitude makes it necessary for one to take things slow, tke necessary rest and avoid anything strenuous before you set out to explore Leh. Ensure that you breathe slowly, stay hydrated at all times. This is to get acclimatized as your body needs to adjust to the low atmospheric pressure. Hence, Post Check-In, we relax at the hotel. Later in the evening if we are feeling up for it, you can head out to take a stroll in the Leh Market/relax at a cafe.
  • Return back to the hotel and retire for the night post having a hearty and delicious dinner that awaits us.
  • Day 2: Leh Day Out!
  • The day embarks with a healthy breakfast, post which we gear up to explore Leh.
  • There are just soo many places that one can see. We have tried to incorporate as much possible to make sure to cover the sheer beauty of Leh. The places that we cover are:
  • Hall of Fame - Constructed by the Indian Army in memory of the brave Indian soldiers who laid down their lives defending the motherland during various wars in this region. The Hall of Fame exhibits weaponry that was used in the Kargil War, highly structured display of the documents of the war, uniforms that are worn at the Siachen glacier and so on. You are surely to be filled with a sense of pride visiting this revered place. To add cherry on top the museum also houses a souvenir shop.
  • Shanti Stupa – Sitting at a height of 4267 meters overlooking the Leh city, giving a panoramic view of surrounding mountains is the marvel Shanti Stupa. What makes it unique is not just the architectural exquisiteness but also that it holds the relics of the Buddha at its base, enshrined by the 14th Dalai Lama himself. Built to promote world peace and prosperity as well as to commemorate 2500 years of Buddhism, it is one of the major attractions in Leh.
  • Zanskar & Indus Confluence - One of the most arresting views of Mother Nature that can be seen in Ladakh, is the Sangam, the confluence Indus and Zanskar Rivers. The green-tinged Indus River that originates in the Tibetan Plateau near the Manasarovar range and the shiny blue Zanskar which has its source in the Zanskar valley meet to give the most beautiful shade of nature. Definitely a visual treat!
  • Magnetic Hills – The place where gravity takes a back seat! Magnetic Hill is famous for its ability to make vehicles feel as though they are rolling uphill. Would be fun experiencing it. Wouldn’t it?
  • Gurudwara Pathar Sahib - Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, most respected place where Guru Nanak Dev ji, founder of the Sikh religion is believed to have conquered a demon.
  • You have the evening to yourself to acclimatize and spend time shopping, snacking and strolling delving into the history of the place. Return back to the hotel, have dinner and rest up well. Tomorrow is a big day!
  • Day 3: Exploring Khardung La - Nubra – Diskit
  • Wake up to the sunrays cascading over the snow capped mountains. Post breakfast, we are going to head towards Nubra Valley to experience what it feels like to be at Khardung-La - Highest motorable road which is at 5359 mt. We then Check in to the hotel and visit the Sand Dunes (cold deserts of India), take a camel safari – optional (self-paid). Visit the Diskit village and the Monastery around. Diskit village is located in the Nubra Valley, which is best known for the double-humped Bactrian camel, its night sky, the desert, and picturesque landscapes. As the village is at a lower altitude, it has a favorable climate for lush green vegetation in the valley, thus rightly called the “Orchard of Ladakh. Post exploring the village and monastery, come back to the hotel by evening, have dinner and then off to bed we are.
  • Day 4: Hunder – Turtuk - Yarab Tso – Panamik
  • After breakfast we drive to Turtuk – a lesser known hidden splendor. A section of paradise annexed by India only after the 1971 war. The village of Turtuk is one of the only Balti villages in India and lies right next to the LOC. Explore the village of Turtuk the village - don't miss the chance to interact with the locals especially known for their friendly behavior. You can try delicious apricots here which are major source of income for the locals. If lucky, on clear days you can have glimpse of K2 mountain peak located across the border in Pakistan.
  • Next comes what is regarded as one of the holiest and high altitude lakes in the Nubra Valley - ‘Yarab Tso’ a greatly venerated amongst the locals. Subsequently, we then move onto explore Panamik, distinguished for its therapeutic hot springs, Panamik is situated close to Siachen glacier, the highest battlefield in the world.
  • Post exploring we head back to Nubra for dinner and overnight stay.
  • Day 5: Nubra Valley to Pangong Tso Via Shyok
  • The much waited day for all you adventure seekers, especially photographers is here. We start the journey from Nubra to the famous Pangong Tso via the Agam and Shyok villages. What makes Pangong Tso so unique and one of the most astonishing lakes in Asia is the fact that not only it is located at an elevation of 4300 mtrs, it changes its color 4 – 5 times a day. The Pangong Lake or “lake of the great hollow” is considered as the largest lake in Asia. Pangong Lake is about 4 km wide on average and at least 136 Km long. The extent of the known portion is, therefore, upwards of 250 square miles (400 sq. km). The water is clearer though salty. The Crystal-clear salty water shines in many shades of blue depending upon its depth. It literally changes shades with sunlight. With a backdrop of mountains of various hues and colors, it is a sight good enough to satiate your soul and enrich the senses.
