Day 1

If you are traveling in Europe, sooner or later the route will have to be laid through the Polish city of Katowice. Most likely, the connections will not be too short, so you still have to go to the city and kill time there.

A trip to another city

In an hour and a half drive from Katowice, there are several cities that are more interesting in terms of architecture and leisure. These are Krakow and Czech Ostrava. And you can get there and there directly from the airport, without going into the city. For example, getting from the airport to Krakow will cost 10.5 euros per person one way. For comparison, a transfer to Katowice will cost 5, so the difference is not that great. You can view the schedule and make a reservation on website, but in general, the airport's website lists all accredited transport companies and where they take them, so the choice is quite large.

You can also get to Ostrava directly from the airport by tiger express buses at a price of 7 to 15 euros one way, depending on the travel time and route. The editors chose Ostrava along the way, but more on that next time.

The option is far from for everyone - to go on an excursion to Auschwitz. The city and the memorial center itself are located 40 km from Katowice, you can get there by train or bus, the price is around 2-6 euros for a one-way trip. The schedule can be viewed here, and the site, which is good, has English and even Ukrainian versions. Groups are free to visit, but individual tourists will need to take a guide.

City walk

Katowice is an excellent example of how it should be: for example, how to organize the city's transport system, how to solve urban problems, how to attract tourists, how to arrange the space of the main square of the city in the end. The latter is worth mentioning separately, because we have never seen such a cool concept. In order not to describe, we will just show the photo and yes, these are loungers, on which you can sit by the fountain.

In addition, despite the fact that the city was founded in the 19th century, it has several interesting architectural sites, such as the Church of St. Mary and the city center.

We should also mention the Guitar History Museum and the Write My Essay For Me exhibition hall, which could not but be in the “musical” city. It is also located in the center (which is not surprising, Katowice is a small town), exactly in the courtyards opposite the station on ul. Krzywa 4. It is better to arrange a visit in advance, because this is a small private museum, but they say that the owner himself conducts excursions and even allows you to play some instruments.

Bar tour

The type of leisure, unfortunately, is strictly for drinkers and fans of local drinks. It looks like this: on Mariacka street, the concentration of bars with open areas, where there are practically no snacks, but there is alcohol, is simply transcendental. You can walk into a bar, poke into any of the more than 20 shots based on local drinks (bison, snotty, lemon setting), have a drink, leave a euro, and roll over to a nearby bar. Poland has a really interesting history of the production of spirits and most of them are quite tasty and interesting.

Shopping

An option for those who are bored with the word "absolutely", but it's time to update their wardrobe. A large shopping mall is right in front of the train station, half a dozen more in the city at different points, but not too far away so that it is impossible to reach by tram or walk.
