Bridge of Sighs
Bridge of sighsWhen the prisoners for common crime were being moved from the ground floor of the Doge’s Palace to a building across a narrow canal from the palace, they would usually let out a sigh looking at how beautiful Venice is. That would be the last time they could see Venice from the tiny windows, and hence the name Bridge of Sighs.
Known as the Doge's Palace, this building is built in Venetian Gothic style. This beautiful pink and white marble building was once a palace for the supreme authority of the former Republic of Venice, but is now open to public as a museum. The richly decorated chambers of the Palace provide perfect introduction to the great artists of Venice from the middle age.

Our next stop was Torcello , another beautiful place well known for its beautiful patterned and colored buildings , On reaching the place it seemed like a place out of the coloring books where children had just used their imagination to color the houses, and the small waterways in the place gave it a wonderland charm. After spending a while in the place and clicking pics of the stores selling beautiful Venetian masks and leather items , we cruised back to Venice .
Piazza dell Erbe
5. Buy a fruit cup from the permanent market stalls in piazza delle Erbe and feel virtuous for taking a pizza/gelato break. Or, if you need something more substantial, visit the food floor of department store Excelsior just around the corner on Via Mazzini. Though somehow, despite all the choices on offer, my parents and I managed to all order hamburgers when I visited with them. oops.
Marco Polo International
But Venice ; never fails to surprise as they say , what a farewell we got ,I'd remember it for life , We had been booked to Marco Polo Airport on a speedboat , its said that a speedboat ride in Venice is for the opulent ,and we were made to feel like the royalty as our speedboat tore through the grand canal and then the vast sea amidst the slight drizzle and wind as it took quarter of an hour to reach Marco Polo Airport, what a farewell ..As the flight took off from the small island housing the Marco Polo , we could see the beautiful city getting smaller and vanish asking us for a promise to return . Congé Venice and Italia , till next time.
