Day 2 : Fira to Oia HikeDistance From Fira -> 10 kmsTime ->2.5 hrsLevel -EasyOia has world's best sunsets so the plan for day was to hike Fira to Oia. Entire hike is of approx 10 kms and takes up to 2.5 to 3 hours. Its advisable to start early as by 10 am because you can avoid mid afternoon heat. November was the best time to hike because weather was favourable compared to Hot summers of Santorini. Don't forget you camera , some of the most scenic landscapes and seascapes will stretch before you .
Although Oia is the most famous village in Santorini, Fira is the most connected one. If you want to travel from point A to B in Santorini via bus, you most likely have to go via Fira. As we started our day in Fira, we first visited the Three Bell Church. The view from here is very mesmerizing. After taking a lot of photos, we started walking towards the village of Imerovigli. While researching for Santorini, I read that the hike from Fira to Oia (3-5 hours) is the most picturesque one. Since we didn't want to walk all the way back to Oia, we just covered 30 minutes of it, till the Skaros Rock. Along the way, we got some delicious gyros (all that we ate in Santorini), and took a lot of photos. Skaros rock is a huge rock formation due to volcanic eruptions thousands of years ago. By the time we walked back from Skaros Rock, we were extremely tired, and decided to take a nap. We took a bus to the Perissa Beach for the evening, but by the time we got there, it was almost sunset, and not many people were around. We roamed around the beach for some time, and took the bus back to our AirBnB. The next day, we took an early morning flight to Amsterdam.
Since this was our final day, we decided to get up early and explore the pathways of Fira leading up to the cable car and take some more amazing snaps before leaving Santorini with a heavy heart but a lifetime of memories.
We preferred staying budget friendly in the town of Fira. But there are obviously luxury options also available ( mostly in Oia). The budget above is what we spent in Santorini excluding flights and ferries.
