We had booked a hotel in New Jersey, Candlewood suites, as I am an IHG member and had quite a few reward points. In addition, our tickets to Statue of Liberty was from the NJ side as the NYC side tickets were sold out a month ago. All we could manage were the pedestal tickets though we booked a month ahead. If you want the crown tickets, you may have to book much early.Word of advice, Please book your tickets in advance.Once we reached NJ, dropped our bags at the hotel and got ready, took off to the cruise that would take us to the Liberty Island.Weather gods did not help us much and the city was so foggy that day, we couldn't see the NYC skyline clearly. Nonetheless, it was breathtaking. The cruise once docks at the Ellis islands, where you can find the details of all the immigrants into the NYC. However, we skipped it and went directly to the Liberty Island. Well, how can you explain it! I can never think about NYC without the Lady Liberty.
