Subramanyapura - Bengaluru

Subramanyapura is a residential area in Bangalore near Uttarahalli or Chikkalasandra.
With euphoria surrounded we started to Subramanya, a journey of 6-7hr through patchy roads. Sleepless & tired, we reached Subramanya early at around 4am. We booked a lodge (a single room for all the eight!) for daily early morning rituals! Guys who wanted to visit the Kukke Subramanya Temple, which opens at 6:30 for darshan, washed up while the rest went strolling around.

We went to the location of BIG BANYAN TREE, which was one the way. First time I am seeing such a big banyan tree, it was spread over a kilometer. I tried to find out the mother tree but couldn't, from locals I got to know that it got destroyed by some disease or thunderstorm. Then finally we reach our room which is located in Indiranagar (Bangalore) at about 1pm and that trip was worth every penny.

Shanthi Nagar Bus Stand - Bengaluru

One of the best things about Bangalore according to me is it's favourable geographical location, which makes it almost equidistant from the Western, Eastern and Southern end-points in South India. As a result, most of the tourist spots are within affordable reach from Bangalore whether via. road or rail. One doesn't need to cough up much for a descent trip anywhere in South if planned from Bangalore. This is strictly based on my experience of travelling from this great city in last 9 years. Well coming to my trip, it is all about one of my memorable experiences of the popular houseboat ride in the romantic backwaters of Alleppey with three of my colleague cum friends and our visit to two of the famous temples in Kerala, one at Ambalappuzha (a small town 14 kms from Alleppey), and secondly to Mannarsala (21 kms further South from Karumadikkuttan) besides visiting a rare archaeological site at Karumadikkuttan just 5 kms West from Ambalapupuzha. Our trip started from the KSRTC Bus Stand at Shanthinagar at about 5 pm on 23/01/2010. The A/C Volvo bus of KSRTC took about 12 hours to reach Alleppey the next day at about 5 am.

The palace, though it has lost much of its previous grandeur, still manages to stand stunning. The garden and lawn around the palace is well maintained and the castle is now used for exhibitions and large cultural programs. As you enter the palace, it is the ballroom of the king and on the first floor is the assembly halls. The walls are intricately decorated and Yellow seems to have been a favorite of the king. Grover Vineyards Ltd - Bengaluru

Mr. Kanwal Grover in association with Mr. Georges Vesselle decided to give a push again to the stagnant wine industry of the country. The company got established in 1988 and has since seen three generations of the Grover Family maintaining the name and fame it has earned. They are situated on the foothills of the Nandi hill and is spread over an area of almost 400 acres. They have a unique process of wine making which has brought them an ace position in the industry. Both white and red wines are offered here and above all the owners are very friendly with everyone.
If you’re in Bangalore, Nandi Hills will also do. They do a complete lunch, wine-tasting and winery visit deal, though you might need to have your own vehicle to be a part of the vineyard tour. There’s a very nice and varied collection of wines to choose from, and even if you know nothing about wines other than basic pairings (don’t worry, that’s all I know and nobody’s refused to pour yet), it won’t really matter. There’ll be help at hand. The entire tour takes about three and a half hours.
