The state was commissioned in the year 1966 and is the one which surrounds Delhi completely on three sides. The largest city of Haryana is Faridabad. Haryana is known mainly for the industries that are a part pf it and the colourful food and culture here. This is an extremely beautiful watchpoint and a holiday resort out here. The charming ambience cannot be well- explained in mere words. The spectacular vies, the awesome weather and the fun you have here will make you come back again and again. The resort is awesome too and the best part is the pool inside. About 40-50kms from the Delhi, this place is surrounded by the Aravali hills and has an uncanny gumption of a hill station. Eat and drink to your heart's content with Swimming pool, spacious rooms, great gardens, and indulge in happy conversations during community dinning. Another great thing, you’ll never be crowded here because there are only four large bedrooms with plenty of privacy. Word of advice: Make reservations before hand!

Murthal - Haryana

This is a big village and is a part of the Sonepat District of the state of Haryana. The name 'Murthal' originates from two words- Muni and Sthal and thus this is the place where the munis meditated. Even 2 decades ago, Murthal could be found nowhere is the list of visits but now it finds a prominent position given the extensive development process it is witnessing. The growth of everything is so fast here and it is really good to see people adapting themselves to the change. The main attractions here are the typical village temples of Goddess Kali, Lord Shiva and Hanumana. The dhabas are also popular out here and the Punjabi authentic food you get here is delicious.
The Food at Haveli was lip smacking and the service was royal. A must visit if you are travelling by this route.

Early morning breakfast at Murthal So we gave a kick start to our day with an early morning drive till Murthal. The drive was smooth and there were no typical traffic jammed roads at that time. Although there are many dhabas on the murthal highway but I chose to give a try to Sukhdev dhaba, instead of the Haveli restaurant which I had visited several times. Even at that early morning hour the tables were mostly occupied. After some efforts my friend grabbed a table and soon after seating, my taste buds were enjoying the tasty tandoor parantha along with a hot tea and this breakfast gave an awesome start to our day.

Kurukshetra - Haryana

Straight out of the pages of history is the pious city in Haryana, Kurukshetra. The land is hallowed for being the zone for the Kurukshetra War of Mahabharata and also the founding place of Lord Krishna’s brainchild, Bhagavad Gita. If you visit the city today, you would find its sanctity unblemished. A tour around the place will take you on a journey through time. Jyotisar is the place where Lord Krishna had encouraged Arjuna to proceed with the war. The 1000-year-old banyan trees shadow and seemingly protect the place to stand the test of time. The Brahma Sarovar and Sannihit Sarovar are water bodies that are considered sacred. Thousands of pilgrims flock for a bath in these waters to wash away their sins. The ritualistic aarti in the evening is beautiful to watch as hundreds of lamp flicker in the water. The Heritage Hotel and Saffron Hotel offer relaxing stays. Spend a day seeing the town on a rickshaw. You will be amazed at the number of temples dotting the city. A quick visit to Sheikh Chilli’s Tomb will beautifully articulate the Persian influence and will add to the enriching experience of this saintly city.

Kurukshetra is considered the venue of the epic war Mahabharata. Our guide is a guy who had memorized a few lines in English to cater to the majorly South Indian tourists. He just killed it every time – amusing because of the fact that there was no dearth in his confidence. We arrived at Brahmasarovar Lake. It’s considered holy to bath in the water of this lake. It is said that Duryodhana hid under the water during the war. It is also said that the dead from the war were disposed here. However the water still remained fresh. From here we went to Jyotisar temple which had been erected at the place where Krishna spoke the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna. There was a huge old tree below which the main temple had been made.

Rohtak - Haryana

This is the 6th most populous city of Haryana and lies on th south eastern part of it. It is also on the North western part of Delhi and is not very far from it. The city of Rohtak has always been a dark horse when it comes to importance in different sectors. The place is low key and people here love to keep it simple. There are however a number of good schools and colleges out here which are evidences enough of the fact that education and literacy finds a prominent place here. There are however no posh restaurants and night clubs out here. Also this place is know for the delicious traditional sweets such as rabdi. The signature sweet of Rohtak is the Gajak which is made of sesame mied woth sugar or jaggery.
A quick (hot) 2 hours journey, 70km out of New Delhi. Not much to see in Rohtak... but the farm and village is a 5 minute drive away

Morni Hills - Haryana

These are hills along with the Morni Village. There is not much you can do here except for lazing around and enjoying the beauty of nature. The place is famous as a watchpoint and known for Himalayan flora and fauna. The colorful flowers and migratory birds are a sight to behold all round the year.
The weather was good. It had rained for two days so the drive up was picturesque. We stopped the car many times just to take in the scenery. On the way we passed many other cars doing the same. Ha! this is like heaven after the hustle bustle of daily life. View of Chandigarh from half way up Morni Hills, on the Shivalik range. Lush green creeper, the leaves of which are used for making leaf plates(patthal) " Nature Camp, Forest Department" My husband noticed the board. Shall we check this out? But then we cannot make it to the top which is still 12 km away. Remember we need to go back by evening." A quick decision was made -nature camp it is. After all Forest Dept would have selected the most scenic spot on the hill, I reasoned. It was a scenic spot. On top of a small hill surrounded by nurseries for trees and freshly planted variety of trees. The thatched roof dining hall looked inviting. The stilted huts reminded us of the tourist huts we had seen in the islands of South Korea. The carefully tended nursery at nature camp. We decided to take a different route back to Chandigarh. A short cut from the other side of Morni Hills. A road not well developed and full of potholes. Each pothole reminded us of the reality of our country's serious efforts to preserve the pristine. The roadside was dotted with trucks and stone crushers for miles on end. The houses and slum dwellings seemed to have just one focus-cutting the mountain, mining the stones and crushing them.

sector 17 market - Haryana

A local market in the Sector 17 of the city of Gurgaon. This place is also lined with the best hotel and holiday resorts as well some very good restaurants. If you have chosen a hotel closeby, do not hesitate tp fill your bags from the market here. This is not a specialized market and thus you get everything here. This incldes clothes, handicrafts, unk jewellery, food and many other things.
After grabbing a quick snack at one of the cafes in the best market Chandigarh city has to offer, we stumbled upon a live concert by some amateur bands followed by some major classical singers. The good thing about this concert was, that it was open to everybody. It is a huge market place lined with many famous brands to shop from and multiple multi-cuisine restaurants. What I personally loved about this market was unlike the other markets in all the fast paced cities, it had a very leisurely and peaceful touch to it.
